Dressing Twins Alike

As a fraternal twin, I am totally against dressing twins alike. Sure, Anthony and I were pretty cute being dressed in the same clothes until we were about 4 years old, but after that I wanted to be my own person.

One of the stereotypes of being a twin is that you like to dress alike, which in my case is untrue. Anthony and I always had a similar style but we avoid wearing the same exact thing on the same day.

I recently asked my parents why they dressed my brother and I the same and they said the main reason was so they could always find us if we walked off and so we could be easily identifiable. My mom also said because we deprived her of sleep every night it was easier for her to dress us up the same (our punishment for not being good babies).

I personally think once twins reach the age of four, they should be able to decide for themselves if they want to dress the same or not. By dressing the same it deprives twins of being individuals and expressing that individuality. It also can cause the twins to become co-dependent on each other for everything including how to dress. Personally, I don't want to be that 70 year old twin that still lives with my twin brother and we still dress the same.

So what do you think? Should twins be forced to dress alike? Leave your comments below and let me know what you think.
